Updated AEW Full Gear Card And Potential Additions
AEW Full Gear is less than a couple of weeks away and the core of the PPV has already been announced that include big title fights and personal scores to settle:
- Pre show: Orange Cassidy vs Dark Order’s No.4, John Silver
- World championship “I QUIT” match: (c)Jon Moxley vs Eddie Kingston
- Women’s world championship match: (c)Hikaru Shida vs Nyla Rose
- TNT championship match: (c)Cody vs Darby Allin
- World tag team championship match: (c)FTR vs Young Bucks
- Final of the number one contenders tournament: Kenny Omega vs Hangman Adam Page
- Elite Deletion match: Matt Hardy vs Sammy Guevara
- MJF vs Chris Jericho (If MJF wins next week)
But what else could be added to the card? Eight matches is substantial but AEW usually like to put on around nine or ten. Having said that, here’s a handful of well-reasoned ideas for those last couple of match slots, as we prepare for one of the four PPVs AEW put on each year:
Shawn Spears vs Scorpio Sky II
I predicted that this match would take place at the PPV so I was a little shocked when it got announced for next week’s Dynamite. However that doesn’t mean there won’t be a rematch. I believe this feud has lasted long enough to justify making this a best of three series. Sky wins on Dynamite, Spears attacks Sky after, rematch at Full Gear, big PPV win for Spears, then the third match down the line.
A women’s casino battle royal to decide the next number one contender for Shida
As the men have already had theirs, it seems only right to have a women’s battle royal. Aside from this, a battle royal would be a good move for the women’s division as rivalries and friendships can be created in matches like this, whilst also having a chance to show what they can do. It’s a chance to inject some story telling into that division and you can create a star through whomever wins it.
Butcher and Blade vs Natural Nightmares
Unless this also gets announced for Dynamite before the show, there is a good chance this match would be used as a high-level filler on an already stacked card. Both teams are ranked third and fourth in the rankings plus you have the side story of Allie leaving QT Marshall and reuniting with Butcher and Blade.
Second pre show match- Miro and Kip Sabian vs Best Friends
Though some have criticised Miro being thrown into a tag team straight away, the fact AEW have such an incredible tag team division means they can get away with it. Stories can be build with ease thanks to this depth. What’s happening between Miro, Kip and the Best Friends is so simply and it will prove to be effective with time. This is Miro’s chance to shine and Kip will show his consistency once more.
A stellar card. It should be one hell of a show.
