Wrestling Legend Tracy Smothers Passes Away At The Age Of 58
It is with a heavy heart that we report the passing of wrestling legend Tracy Smothers at the age of 58.
Smothers announced back in November of 2019 that he had been diagnosed with cancer, and that he was battling lymphoma. It had initially been thought that Tracy had beaten the disease as it was believed all the cancer was gone following treatments. However, more cancer was recently found.
The website Eat Sleep Wrestling reported on Monday that they had spoken to Tracy via telephone and that “it looked like his first bout with cancer was going to be a ‘squash match’ compared to his second round.” It was also stated that Smothers had “suffered heart damage from the heavy chemotherapy in his first battle with cancer.” This led to Smothers being hospitalized multiple times. His most recent hospitalized was just eleven days ago for hernia surgery. On Monday, ESW reported:
“Tracy’s ready to fight this cancer as hard as he did last fall, but the heart problems have delayed the cancer treatments and the hernia issue has delayed doctors from treating the heart issues. He’s in a real battle. Tracy is in it to win it, and he sends his love to all his friends and his wrestling family, and he is asking for prayers.”
Smothers posted an update on his facebook page Tuesday morning providing an update, which did not sound good.
“In ER again throwing up Bile or Vile.Belly button hernia surgery aggravated the fast rising non-hodgkins Lymphoma cancer.Heart rate is high an Thyriod is out of whack.Other than that Im just swell on a Wacky Wed.lol.Please Pray?”
