AEW’s TNT Champion Cody has been making use of the social media service Community, using it to keep in touch with fans and even respond to text messages from them. Sometimes he uses the service to tweet spoilers to his fans, like teasing he would make an appearance the night he returned on AEW Dynamite.
Today, however, Cody used the service to help hype up his upcoming TNT Championship match against Darby Allin, and the incumbent champ seems to be unhappy with his opponent at Full Gear. While “The American Nightmare” seems okay with being on the card, he seems to take issue with his opponent.
After sitting out of “All Out”…admittedly I was expecting a grander return to PPV. I dig Darby. I solely recruited Darby here, and I respect his Top-5 ranking and his 12-5 record, BUT… how many chances should Darby receive? He’s stood across from me 3 times, and he’s never had his hand raised. I won’t take him lightly, but I really shouldn’t be taking him at all. Let’s #DoTheWork and win!
While this is no doubt in character, Cody’s attitude toward his challenger will no doubt be used as story line fuel and have potential repercussions on the road to Full Gear. We’ll see if the fourth time is the charm for Allin and it leads to his first championship reign in AEW.
