WWE’s ban on third party revenue for contracted talent has led to several talents shutting down their Twitch and Cameo accounts in the last 24 hours, some with little notice.
This edict has also upset several superstars, with Paige giving a passionate speech on Twitch about what the platform and her viewers meant to her.
Now Mike Johnson of PWInsider is reporting AJ Styles and other performers such as Cesaro, Zelina Vega, and Aleister Black had a meeting with Vince McMahon in the hopes of swaying him to change his mind on the ban. If the fact the channels were still shut down is any indication of how the meeting went, the outlook doesn’t look good for their return.
The shutdown enforcement seems to have been sudden, as Mia Yim had scheduled a stream and tweeted out she had to cancel it within 4 hours of her announcing it. While Johnson goes on to report the WWE seems to have plans to make a big push for their own Twitch channel, this still leaves their talent out in the cold as far as their own desires to broadcast on the channel.
