WWE Considering Not Doing Invasion Angle To Hype Survivor Series
The build to Survivor Series is on, and long time WWE fans know several things tend to happen with the build toward the annual interbrand matches. One of these things is usually a cross show invasion, most of the time culminating in a giant all roster brawl.
However, the chances of that look slim for this year.
Dave Meltzer discussed on Wrestling Observer Radio the internal shift on NXT and how it played into their absence from Survivor Series. The idea that several COVID-19 outbreaks have happened at the Performance Center played into that decision, and it’s shown that the cautiousness is being taken for the main roster as well. The annual invasion angles to help promote the show have always helped build hype for the event, but they’ve decided to keep everyone on their respective brands for now.
“If you noticed RAW and SmackDown haven’t even been sending people yet because they wanna keep those separate because if something happens they only want one brand infected. If you build it up the way it was last year where they had people from all three shows that she says that if someone is infected from the Performance Center it’s going to spread to all three rosters because if something happens they only want one brand infected.”
The desire to keep everyone on their respective shows to prevent a COVID outbreak could give them an interesting chance to try different methods to promote the show and the interbrand matches. We will have to see what they do, but you never know what could happen.
