Roman Reigns’ Original Plans For Hell In A Cell
WWE’s plans often change on a whim. Some has to do with unfortunate timing like injuries or illnesses and some have to do with Vince McMahon changing his mind on a whim. This can dramatically affect what we see on television, as evidenced recently with him giving up on the former Heavy Machinery.
It seems that Vince and WWE creative changed their mind on a potential different main event for Hell In A Cell that would’ve dramatically changed how we saw the show at home.
Wrestling Observer reported that the initial plan for Roman Reigns at Hell In A Cell would have been defending the Universal Title in a fatal four-way match, with Reigns, Braun Strowman, and Bray Wyatt penciled in with an undetermined fourth person to be in the mach. However, Ringside News has learned that they never decided on a fourth person. The only thing creative had been told was that Vince McMahon wanted a fatal four way.
The setup for the match was there. Alexa Bliss on her road to her alliance with Bray Wyatt was supposed to tease that The Fiend absolutely wasn’t done with Roman Reigns after his return and subsequent heel turn, and Strowman had reason with wanting to regain the title. However, the plans were nixed and they went with a rematch between Reigns and Jey Uso, which was probably a better decision.
