Taya Valkyrie Remembers Shad Gaspard’s Influence On Her Career
When Shad Gaspard passed away, the world of pro wrestling mourned the passing of a brother and friend. People spoke up on the kindness and altruism of Gaspard and the things he did for them. One of the people that has spoken on it recently is Impact Wrestling’s Taya Valkyrie.
She recently sat down with Chris Van Vliet and spoke on a variety of topics, Gaspard coming up in the interview. During this time, she spoke of how the former Cryme Tyme member helped her get her start in professional wrestling.
“I’d met Shad Gaspard three weeks before The Nationals… WWE was in town. And I was bartending at this bar, and I was dressed as a female John Cena. They were in the bar and I was just serving them drinks and stuff, and he’s like, ‘You should be a wrestler.’ And I was like, ‘I’m trying to be a wrestler, and I don’t know how to be a wrestler!’ So he actually put WWE in contact with me the first time. If it wasn’t for that, then I don’t think that a lot of things would have happened the way that they did.”
Gaspard was known for being a good man and died a hero as he tried to save his son during a riptide at the beach. Gaspard’s friends continue to speak fondly of him and honor his memory and his influence on the world around him.
