More Information On Tony Chimel’s Release

Earlier today, we reported WWE fired Tony Chimel as part of a small release of about 10-15 other employees. The long time ring announcer was popular among fans and well known for his animated introduction of WWE Hall of Famer Edge.

Among the other firees was Derek Casselman, Director of Venue Merchandise and Remote Operations.

Now Ringside News has reported that Chimel happened to be furloughed at the time of his release. Their source spoke to them and said Chimel hadn’t been around “in forever” and wasn’t when they made their cuts that were mostly people they decided not to bring back.

The situation was summed up to them as “WWE continues to cut costs to maximize the booked profits.” Many of the names released in these cuts will be behind the scenes workers that not many fans will know, but they were integral to the operations of the company. These moves were made as the company continues to make the most of their profits in a time where they are losing out on money made from live events among other avenues.
