WWE Fires Spanish Commentator

Earlier today, we reported that WWE had another round of layoffs this year after the roster cuts from earlier this year. The COVID-19 pandemic has had the WWE looking to maximize their profits, and about 10-15 people were released in this round made up of mostly behind the scenes workers. The most notable name revealed to this point has been former ring announcer Tony Chimel.

Now another name has been revealed from those layoffs, and it is Spanish commentator Jerry Soto.

Soto has been with the company since 2011 and was the replacement for Hugo Savinovich in their Spanish announcing for their events. Soto, like Chimel, was furloughed prior to his termination. Super Luchas first reported this, along with a message from Soto.

“Hi. Officially, I don’t have a job. I take a bit of your time to tell you that I’ve been on furlough since March. Now, the time has come to get another job, preferably acting. I write it here so that you have me in mind with employment opportunities. Thanks for your time. It is not the end, but another beginning. If you’ve lost your job too, patience, joy and strength, and everyone, a sanitized hug!”

Soto, hopefully, will land on his feet.
