Recently Signed AEW Talent Almost Ended Up With WWE
WWE is always scouting talent, and it seems like recently they’ve had their eyes on talent being used by AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling. One of those talents is newly signed AEW talent Anthony Bowens.
Bowens was recently announced as a signed talent by AEW as part of a tag team with Max Caster, and it has been revealed one of the AEW Dark talents WWE had their eye on was Bowens.
Bowens was on the WWE radar for a while. According to Fightful Select, it was revealed that they had first learned of WWE’s interest in Bowens as far back as the Spring of 2019. According to their report, the WWE never got back to Bowens, and the people they spoke with were “puzzled” by the situation. Their sources went on to tell them Bowens “should be there and under contract.”
Bowens and Caster are now signed to AEW and it looks like WWE let one slip through the cracks. They can at least take comfort in the fact they did manage to secure one talent they were looking at, as they managed to sign Ben Carter.
