WWE tries to make quiet changes to the names of their stars sometimes. One day a star has their first or last name, the next day, it’s quietly removed.
And sometimes, part of the name comes back without warning. For every Matt Riddle to Riddle, there’s an Ali to Mustafa Ali, though he lost his first name at one point. And just like Ali’s first name has returned to him, it seems a WWE star may have had his first name returned to him.
Murphy has quietly added Buddy back to his social media profiles, his name field on Twitter having the first name again. His WWE profile still lists him as Murphy, but the change seemed to happen overnight so we could see the change at any time.
Buddy Murphy is currently in the middle of resolving his issues with the Mysterio family, and perhaps we’ll get some answers Friday when he faces Seth Rollins.
