Darby Allin has talked about his life before professional wrestling and how he spent time sleeping in his car. Deciding not to forget where he came from, Allin took the unorthodox approach to prepare mentally for Full Gear by sleeping in his car.
Allin spoke to Busted Open Radio about not wanting to forget where he came from, so he made the decision to do this on the night before Full Gear, to remind himself how thankful he is for where he is now.
“I wanted to remind myself of just how sh*tty things were. So I slept in there [my car] and the weather in Jacksonville is still so much more muggy than other places. It was just a reminder to myself. You don’t need to forget where you came from just because this week’s huge. To keep it? It makes you want to fight more. So now I’m grateful to have this house with 13 acres and a wrestling ring downstairs. [Also] skate ramps and a bunch of crazy sh*t.”
Allin is riding high in AEW as one of their top homegrown stars. Allin has had quite the 2020 to date, culminating in his victory at Full Gear to win the TNT championship. Allin continues to show just how far he’s come every week on Dynamite while remaining humble and grounded.
