Backstage News On Jon Moxley’s Dynamite Promo Involving Announcing Renee Paquette’s Pregnancy
Jon Moxley cut an intense, heartfelt promo on Dynamite this week that didn’t just help sell the match against Kenny Omega, but announced a huge life event as he revealed his wife Renee Paquette was pregnant with their first child.
Moxley is normally a very private person and strays from social media, but Moxley made this a very public announcement, and he made that decision at a very strange time – 2am on the night prior to Dynamite. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported Moxley never had an intention to announce the pregnancy publicly, having watched many celebrity social media announcements and found them “gross and pretentious.” The normally private Moxley had what seems to be a natural though for him that “it’s nobody’s business.”
Then at 2 a.m. before the show, he came up with the inspiration to do a promo about his dad, which, by the way, was 100 percent real. On the morning of the show, when he woke up in Jacksonville, he decided he could tie it in, texted her at home and told her about it and that her phone would be exploding that night
The promo he cut that night involving the story about his father was completely legitimate, and the humanization of Moxley with that story and the revelation made the promo that much more compelling.
