Savio Vega Says The Bone Street Krew Was Almost An On-Air Faction In WWE
While many details about The Undertaker’s behind the scenes life haven’t always been public, one thing that was often known was his friends backstage. Undertaker had a well known clique of his own backstage known as the Bone Street Krew, consisting of him, Yokozuna, Rikishi, Savio Vega, Brian “Crush” Adams, Paul Bear, The Godfather, and Mideon.
The group may never have had much alignment on television together, but at one point Vince considered bringing their real life friendship to television.
Talking to Wrestling Inc., Savio Vega said that Vince McMahon considered making it a faction on air. There were factors that Vince considered when changing his mind, but it was at least something he considered at one point.
“Why not? Of course. One time we talked to Vince to be Ahmed Johnson in the BSK when I was in the BSK, and you have Ron, you got Crush, you got me and then you have, maybe by that time, Ahmed Johnson. And Vince looked at it and said, ‘It’s too strong. He’s too strong. We need to create balance,’ and in the moment, it’s like, ‘Okay, and we just continue working,’ but later, it’s like, ‘Well, if you have a strong team, super, mega strong, that makes your babyface strong too. And that way both go up, but that wasn’t the case. So later on, after everything broke, that’s when they brought in Ahmed Johnson.”
Vega went on to say that they could’ve used their real life heat with the Kliq as the basis for the feud, and that naturally didn’t happen. Sometimes the best teams and angles on television come from having a real life deep connection to who you’re working with. The Bone Street Krew may never have had a chance to show off their friendship on television, but they may have a chance to have the living members reunite at Undertaker’s Final Farewell at Survivor Series.
