During the Attitude Era of the WWE, one of the more infamous shots WWE took at WCW was the debut of Gillberg. The clear parody of WCW’s top star came complete with the scrawny Gillberg getting piped in chants and even a pair of sparklers to signify his entrance.
Sadly, Gill has begun suffering health issues as James Ellsworth has taken to social media to tell fans Duane Gill has suffered a heart attack.
Ellsworth and Gill wrestled one another in Gill’s retirement match and was asked by Gill’s wife to tell fans on what happened to Gillberg on social media. Ellsworth definitely takes a more somber tone in the video, telling fans that Gill had a heart attack yesterday, but just got out of ICU and “he is doing well.”
Ellsworth went on to say that Gill hopefully will be home by this weekend so he can transition and get back to normal.
Obviously this is a terrible thing to happen at anytime, but Gillberg and his family are dealing with this in the middle of a pandemic and around Thanksgiving no less. Our thoughts are with Gillberg and his family at this time.
