Tony Khan Optimistic On The Idea Of AEW Trios Titles
AEW has consistently tried to bring new and exciting things to television. While not every idea is innovative or first time ever, the company has worked hard to make ideas fresh and exciting to their viewing audience.
Naturally, one thing has been discussed in AEW is the idea of Trios Tag Team Titles. AEW had a lot of built in trios at the start of the company and continued to build more. Whether it was The Elite, an Inner Circle trio, Best Friends & Orange Cassidy, or Death Triangle, the company built groups of three often enough to get people wondering if this was a feasible thing to do in AEW. Tony Khan addressed this today in a media call to promote tomorrow’s Winter Is Coming Dynamite episode and there’s some optimism for AEW fans.
Khan brought up they’re “seriously considering” the idea, sounding pretty optimistic that we could see those titles soon. Not by the end of the year, but sometime next year sounding fairly plausible. An idea like this has more traction considering Kenny Omega mentioned during the last Jericho Cruise that he wanted to debut them at the next Jericho Cruise. That would have happened already had it not been postponed due to COVID-19.
Khan was very clear that we wouldn’t see those new titles in 2020, so even as more trios begin forming or piecing together, they’ll at least have a lot of time to find chemistry before the titles are introduced. So while the idea is plausible, you probably shouldn’t hold your breath on it happening anytime soon.
