AEW always has their eyes out for young talent they can sign and develop, and last night one of them had a spot on Dynamite.
Leyla Hirsch took on Britt Baker in an incredibly competitive match on Dynamite, looking really strong before her eventual loss to Baker. If you want to know why Hirsch looked so competitive in the match, Wrestling Observer Radio reported that the company has big plans for Legit Leyla.
“The idea is that they wanted to protect Leyla [Hirsch] because they see something in her because she can wrestle. and obviously, Thunder Rosa and Britt is a big program, or at least they’re building toward a match with those two.”
Thunder Rosa attacked Baker after the match, continuing the program set up between the two that started two weeks ago. While that may have been the emphasis of last night, keeping Hirsch looking strong keeps her ready for when they eventually get her off the ground for more important angles and storylines. The AEW Women’s Division has often been criticized as its weakest point in an otherwise strong company, so adding another talent like Hirsch can only help strengthen it.
