During the Women’s WarGames match, NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai was the one who was pinned, which made Candace LeRae’s team win the match. It seems Shirai might have suffered an injury during the match.
Raquel Gonzalez hit Io Shirai with a single armed powerbomb through a ladder definitely took its toll on Shirai’s body. On top of that, Shirai getting squashed while being inside a garbage can did damage to her as well.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez said that Shirai was “mildly injured” when she was crushed while inside garbage can.
“Io Shirai was mildly injured, but apparently she’ll be fine after being squashed in a garbage can.”
It was noted that Shirai taking a dangerous dive from the top of the steel structure did not injure her at all. It was said that she is going to be fine, it is just that she is slightly banged up.
