Kevin Owens Talks Reason Vince McMahon Didn’t Compete At WrestleMania 34
Plans change all the time in pro wrestling, and sometimes it’s for the best.
Kevin Owens was interviewed recently where he revealed that Vince McMahon was nearly his son Shane’s partner at WrestleMania 34 against Sami Zayn and KO. Kevin didn’t just reveal that, but he revealed another reason why it didn’t go down like that, Vince claiming he couldn’t run the show and focus on his own match at the same time. Owens talked about it with Inside the Ropes about it where he recalled what Vince told him.
“Yeah, that was really cool. I wish it would have led to more, honestly. But who wouldn’t feel that way? I think it could have, and I think it almost did. I really think, at one point, there was a chance that it was going to be me and Sami Zayn against Shane and Vince at WrestleMania – which would have been incredible – but Vince, I remember one of the things he had told me was, ‘I can’t run WrestleMania and focus on a match at the same time.’
Vince has wrestled on the show and run it in the past, but it’s been a long time since he’s done that. WrestleMania XXVI exact, when he lost to Bret Hart. Since then, times have changed and so has he, but you never know when the Chairman may find himself back in the ring. And while many will wonder how that match would have gone had Vince competed that night, many more are happy it was Daniel Bryan making his return to the ring instead of seeing Vince.
