Osaka Man Faces Cyberbullying Charges Stemming From Death Of Hana Kimura
Earlier this year, Joshi star Hana Kimura took her own life after being a victim of cyberbullying. Now, there will be justice for her as someone who bullied her into taking her own life will face charges.
Asahi Digital has reported the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department will file charges against a man from Osaka over tweets that harassed the late Stardom performer leading to her suicide back in May.
Investigators have accused the unnamed man in his 20s of sending multiple messages to Kimura prior to her death. Messages sent to her were along the line of “Is there any value to your life?” and “When are you going to die?”
These messages came after an episode of the reality show Terrace House where Kimura got involved in a verbal conflict with a housemate over damaging her wrestling attire. When the episode aired, Kimura drew criticism on Twitter that developed into name calling and abuse from Twitter users, leading her into depression.
The episode aired in March and the accused allegedly sent messages all the way up to her suicide on May 23rd.
We will have more information as it develops.
