WWE Files Trademark For “The Collective”
GCW has held an annual event the last couple of years known as The Collective. Partnering with other independent promotions, the company has used The Collective to hold a weekend worth of shows for fans of independent wrestling.
Next year, they might need to find a new name for this event.
On December 15th, the WWE filed for the trademark “The Collective.” The filing shows similar language used for pro wrestling trademark. It lists “wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media.” That includes television, internet, and radio broadcasts. It also covers any online news outlet seeking to provide “information in the fields of sports via an online community portal.”
While there’s no confirmation the trademark will be used for a show, a name like that could be for something like a faction or a team. Either way, GCW will probably need a new name for their big event next year.
