It was recently revealed IMPACT Wrestling were reviving the Super X Cup tournament at the 2021 Genesis pay per view, and last night the tournament brackets were revealed.
The tournament will be an 8-man tournament with five Impact regulars slated to compete with an additional three newcomers to the company brought in for the tournament.
Ace Austin, Suicide, Daivari, Cousin Jake, and Crazzy Steve make up the company regulars in the tournament, while independent stars KC Navarro and Tre Lamar, along with NJPW Strong standout Blake Christian make up the remainder of the tournament.
Navarro has been a regular for CZW while also making an appearance on AEW Dark recently, and Lamar has been a standout for Absolute Intense Wrestling out of Ohio. Christian is the real gem among the newcomers, having had a breakout 2020 competing for New Japan’s LA dojo system and the show NJPW Strong, along with Game Changer Wrestling. Christian also competed in this year’s Super J-Cup, defeating Rey Horus in the first round before losing to eventual winner El Phantasmo in the semi-finals.
First round matches will be Austin vs. Suicide, Daivari vs. Cousin Jake, Crazzy Steve vs. Lamar, and Navarro vs. Christian.
Genesis will take place January 9th.
