Darby Allin Explains Why He Does Not Watch Other Pro Wrestling Promotions
Darby Allin’s character in AEW has made him very popular with fans as he is an enigma in the ring. It seems he has worked very hard to perfect his current gimmick.
Allin recently spoke to Alfred Konuwa of Forbes. During the interview, the TNT Champion revealed that he does not watch WWE and also does not follow any other pro wrestling promotions, with the exception of AEW.
Allin revealed that he does not want his gimmick to be influenced by what he could see in other pro wrestling promotions.
“I just watch skating videos. That’s it,” “I don’t want to be inspired by anything. I want my body of work to be its own thing.”
He then added that despite having respect for other pro wrestlers, he does not want to be inspired by them.
“I know it’s like that with skaters, a lot of skaters don’t watch certain videos because they don’t want their skating to be inspired just like I do with wrestling,” he said. “I respect everybody’s hard work and stuff, but there comes a point where I just want to be in my own brain about things, I don’t want to be inspired by anybody.”
Allin will be defending his TNT Title against Brian Cage at AEW’s New Year’s Smash Night 2 in 2021.
