SmackDown Sees Huge Viewership Drop This Week
The Christmas Day SmackDown saw huge numbers for the WWE. Were they able to retain those numbers on New Year’s Day?
Showbuzz Daily has reported Friday Night SmackDown drew 1.915 million viewers with a .5 in the 18-49 demographic. This is a massive drop from last week, which saw 3.335 million viewers with 4.097 in the first hour and 2.574 million in the second.
The week before this was a big win with 1.030 viewers, which seems low but it was a highly viewed show on FS1, the network that aired the episode two weeks ago. It was a jump from 881,000 viewers the previous time they ran on the channel.
SmackDown also may have been hurt by the lack of announced matches, in addition to the removal of advertisements promoting the return of Seth Rollins. Next week has already seen Big E vs. Apollo Crews for the Intercontinental Title announced, along with The Street Profits vs. Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode for the Smackdown Tag Team Titles as well.
