Former ECW Star CW Anderson Comes Out Of Retirement
In June of last year, former ECW star CW Anderson announced his retirement. Anderson, turning 50 in a matter of days, posted a video on Instagram as he got emotional, citing how he had missed a lot in his life during his time as a wrestler.
Now, in 2021, Anderson is coming out of retirement. In a post on Instagram, Anderson cites a renewal of purpose and the support of his partner as citing factors in his return.
My new years resolution was to be done with the worst mistake I made over the summer for a part of my life that was never worth it. Retiring. Sometimes you can’t see the forest for the trees and I was in a dark place in my life. Thank God those days are behind me. Door closed and locked, nailed shut, house burnt to the ground and those worthless ashes flushed down the toilet of the new house I currently reside in. In a few short days I’ll be 50 and time to get back in the ring and wrestle. As long as I’m able to, I’m gonna wrestle. For everyone that messagd me over the summer, I can’t thank you enough but there were so many that didn’t want it to be true. Now I have the biggest supporter in my corner and she wants this as much as I. Time to show up! Since ECW shuttered, Anderson has remained active on the independent scene and even participated in the first incarnation of Major League Wrestling as part of The Extreme Horsemen faction with Steve Corino. Anderson also worked several tours of Japan in ZERO-1, and even participated in WWE’s revival of ECW briefly. His only televised match for the brand was the August 22nd, 2006 episode of the show where he faced CM Punk.
Anderson has also done work for the revived NWA, having wrestled in the NWA TV Title tournament and “earned a contract” in a match where he and Caleb Konley defeated the Dawsons.
