WWE Announces Injury To Timothy Thatcher
Earlier today we reported that the Timothy Thatcher/Tommaso Ciampa Fight Pit match was called off from tonight’s NXT New Year’s Evil event. We reported that one of the participants were injured in which caused the match to be called off.
Thanks to the WWE, we now have an update. The WWE posted on Twitter an update from William Regal stating that Timothy Thatcher was injured in preparation for the match. Regal referred to the injury as minor, stating that “with proper rehab,” Thatcher would be able to return shortly. He added that the physical nature of the match would not allow them in good conscience to clear him for the match.
Regal also stated the match would take place as soon as Thatcher is cleared to compete. Based on his wording, it sounds like the match will still take place with the Fight Pit stipulation. There is no announced replacement match at this time.
