AEW Sees Huge Drop In Viewership But Still Beats NXT In The Ratings
AEW saw a big drop in viewership this week, but still managed to defeat NXT who gained viewers.
It was a narrow victory for Dynamite, who had 662,000 viewers down from the 977,000 from last week’s Brodie Lee tribute show. Meanwhile, NXT drew 641,000 which was up from last week’s 586,000 in a report from PWInsider.
AEW took the 18-49 demographic with a .25 to NXT’s .16, but AEW still saw a drop in that rating from last week’s .40.
Both NXT and AEW delivered high quality events, but the ratings may have been affected by people opting to watch the news last night. The terrorist attack on Washington D.C. disrupted what amounts to a ceremonial session of Congress that completes the Electoral College process. Domestic terrorists at the urging of outgoing President Donald Trump attempted to storm the Capitol building to harass and intimidate both houses of Congress in a failed insurrection attempt.
