More Details Emerge On AEW Assisting Brodie Lee In His Final Days

More details are coming out in the wake of Brodie Lee’s passing, and while we continue to celebrate his life, we keep learning more about the details of what AEW knew and when they knew it. While no details have been sinister or so difficult to understand why they would be kept from the public, it does paint the picture of a company trying to help one of their top talents and their love for a man who they treated like family.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter revealed that strings were pulled to get Brodie Lee into the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville on October 31st. This matches up with the report that AEW Vice President Chris Harrington played a role in getting him there. They also knew at that time how grim his condition was.

They went on to report that Amanda Huber told AEW officials about his condition November 7th. At that time, “all the key people that worked with him knew.” They were asked to keep things quiet to avoid information getting out and rumors from spreading. The work succeeded, as many people continued to wonder why they didn’t talk about Lee, referring to his status as a “state secret.”

Amanda Huber informed those in the company on 11/7, so all the key people that worked with him knew. She asked everyone to keep it quiet. He didn’t want the information out and she didn’t want rumors to spread, so everyone kept it quiet.

Unfortunately, Brodie Lee had been too far to qualify for a lung transplant. It was said that had he received one, his big frame would have complicated things. Lee would have become immmunocompromised “and take a lot of anti-rejection drugs.” It’s unfortunate to hear such things, and we continue to honor and celebrate the life of a man who was a rising star and beloved by all his peers.
