Sasha Banks might not have been seen on WWE SmackDown last night, but she was certainly referenced. WWE was quick to point out Sports Illustrated named her number one on their top ten wrestlers of the year, and Carmella even appeared to continue their rivalry in a promo, but she was nowhere to be found.
Ringside News has reported Sasha was at the ThunderDome and medically cleared, but wasn’t used. They asked their sources why she hadn’t been utilized on last night’s SmackDown, and they received a pretty simple answer: no creative direction for her.
Very few storylines on Smackdown are given special attention, unless it involves Roman Reigns. Otherwise, consistency is rare and it’s clear which storylines and angles are suffering.
The site was also told that “a complete breakdown and failure of the creative process” falls on Bruce Prichard, showing that he continues to build frustration among so many people backstage.
Their report went on to ask if Sasha was scheduled for a match at the Royal Rumble and they were told “You’re going unde the assumption the Rumble has been signed off on.”
With the Rumble a couple weeks away, it’s becoming more and more obvious the WWE is in a difficult position putting the show together and it won’t get any easier the closer they get to the show.
