It seems like a lifetime ago, but AEW’s Revolution pay per view in February 2020 held one of the year’s best matches. People who reviewed the show hailed the AEW Tag Team Title Match between Hangman Page & Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks as the match of the night, the greatest match in AEW’s short history, and many people still list it as their match of the year.
Now it has some silverware to prove it. Pro Wrestling Illustrated named the match their match of the year, as voted on by their readers. One person thankful for that is Adam Page himself, who took to Instagram to thank the fans in a surprisingly emotional but brief message.
Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s Match of the Year for 2020. The weeks and months surrounding this match took so much out of me. I shared with you very real parts of my life, things I’d never dared to say out loud. In some ways it was deeply cathartic. But I left a piece of my soul with you in Chicago. Thank you for taking care of it.
Page has never been shy about his feelings, and it was a well deserved victory for the match. It will certainly go down as one of AEW’s most iconic moments.
