Will NXT Stars Appear At The Royal Rumble?
Over the last few years, WWE has made a point of utilizing unnanounced spots in the Royal Rumble to give space for surprise appearances from NXT Superstars. They’ve actually been some of the more popular appearances over the last few years, whether it was Shawn Spears (then Tye Dillinger) arriving at number 10 in 2017 or Keith Lee’s shock appearance last year to stare down Brock Lesnar.
While this year’s Survivor Series didn’t feature NXT after being featured prominently in the 2019 edition of the pay per view, people are wondering if NXT will have a presence in the Royal Rumble, especially when each Royal Rumble match has 30 people and they may not be able to bring in that many people for a single night that aren’t regular performers. WWE had concerns about cross contamination for COVID-19, but it still remains an issue even now.
Ringside News has tried to do some digging to see if we would see NXT have a presence at the Royal Rumble, and while they were told that was not the current plan, “everything is being discussed.”
NXT stars usually aren’t told they will be involved in the match until close to the event anyways, so it may be no surprise they aren’t in the current plan. So right now, NXT has no scheduled presence for the Royal Rumble matches, but we will have to wait and see.
