Last night featured an early shock in the Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic when Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter shocked the world by beating the team of Toni Storm and Mercedes Martinez.
If you believe a rumor heard during Wrestling Observer Live, it could be the start of not just a push, but a heel turn. Bryan Alvarez reported on the show that Catanzaro and Carter are slated to turn heel, which seems pretty hard to believe right now.
“I was told last night after Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter got their upset in the Dusty Classic and Kacy did this full twisting back senton to win, which I believe was the only second time in her NXT career that she pinned somebody. Second time, that’s the key to this story.” “Then they went back and they celebrated and talked about how they are going to win the Dusty Classic and they were all confident. I was told that was supposed to be the beginning of a heel turn for Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter. I can’t believe it. I cannot believe this, so I am praying that if this is true then some time in the next week cooler heads prevail and they make this right.”
Catanzaro was noted as a “guaranteed babyface,” considering her look and appeal as a former contestant on American Ninja Warrior. While it’s a rumor at this point, stranger things have happened in the WWE. The duo may be poised for turn to darkness.
