Backstage News On Edge Announcing His Royal Rumble Entry On Raw
Many fans were shocked last night when Edge not only appeared on the show for the first time since his injury, but cut a promo announcing his entry into the 2021 Royal Rumble. A name like Edge that has been out for months often gets held back as a surprise entrant, but that wasn’t the case this year. There is a reason they didn’t hold off and make him a surprise entrant, however.
Fightful Select has reported that Edge declaring his entry into the Rumble is due to the fact there will be no live fans at the event. It has been reported that had the event been able to have live fans in the arena, they would have held off on the announcement to get the surprise pop as usual. Instead, the WWE has announced Edge’s return to help drive fans to the event on the Network and create a buzz.
We were told that if there were an actual crowd, there’s a good chance that he would have been held off. However, it was decided that Edge’s return was best served as being announced to create buzz for the Royal Rumble and help attract lapsed fans familiar with him.
As the word has managed to get out, surely more people are getting into the idea of seeing Edge at this year’s Royal Rumble, and some may even think he has a shot at winning the whole thing. Edge’s unique promo cut last night has now started stirring buzz for the Rumble, and it could only get more interesting from here.
