AEW May Have An Interesting Scheduling Conflict For Revolution
The build to AEW Revolution has started. The announcement of the show’s first match has already begun to excite fans as Sting is wrestling his first match in several years when he and Darby Allin meet Ricky Starks and Brian Cage in a street fight. However, they could be faced with some difficult competition.
March 7th is the announced date for Revolution, and while the current date scheduled was designed to avoid heavy competition, it looks like they still might have some in the form of the NBA All Star Game. It’s an unfortunate move as AEW allegedly moved their date to avoid going head to head with UFC. Dave Meltzer talked about the date on Wrestling Observer Radio and discussed some of the logistics of the date that could create some problems.
“So it’s March 7, that is the day of the show. It is going to stay March 7th as of this moment. Of course, nothing is for sure, for sure, but the decision is pretty much for sure. Every night they wanted to go — okay, so they went to Marth 7th because they were trying to avoid avoid obviously, March 6’s UFC pay-per-view, they didn’t wanna go against that. The February show, there was the Canelo and Alvarez fight. “So, the deal was now the NBA is strongly talking about today, now it’s being talked about, but nothing official, but it’s been the talk. The NBA is strongly talking about the All-Star game being March 7th in Atlanta. So, that would be head-to-head and not far away either, now geographic location, Atlanta and Jacksonville, it doesn’t matter. Being head-to-head with a big sports event, it’s something. The indication I was given is that they’re still going on that day, so that’s the deal. That just popped up this afternoon.”
So the date for the All Star Game is not official, but the situation could create difficulty for AEW as they struggle to find a night their show can have the most eyes possible on it.
