ODB Says Triple H Convinced Her To Go To Impact Wrestling In 2007

ODB has long been considered one of the staples of Impact Wrestling. From the days it was Total Nonstop Action, ODB has long been one of the company’s standout female stars. However, few people remember that her early days were in Ohio Valley Wrestling, WWE’s old developmental territory.

She talked about her time in OVW and how it wound up leading her to Impact in a Knockouts Round Table discussion hosted by Gail Kim. The fan favorite talked about her first experience with the company and talked about how she was worried a full time wrestling gig would never present itself for her after seven years on the independent scene. During her OVW time, she got a call from Terry Taylor to come join TNA and she revealed who she spoke with that convinced her to take the job. Apparently she spoke with Triple H to see if there was a chance to head to the WWE, and that conversation revealed to her Impact was her future.

“Oh boy, so I was backstage back in the Nashville days, you know, hanging out backstage in what 2002 or 01. it was cool, you know, got to work here and there. Then I went to OVW, so I was in OVW when I got the call, and I remember Terry Taylor called and he’s like, oh, we’d love to have you be a part of the Knockouts, and I was like, oh my God, what do I do? Like, I have an awesome opportunity and I’m in OVW, and actually, Triple H was there that night watching everyone. I was so nervous, I’m like, I gotta go up to him, I gotta go up to him. Then I went up to Triple H, I’m like, hey, just wanted to introduce myself. He’s like, oh yeah, we love your character, and then I’m like, well, I got the call from TNA. He’s like, go there, it’s going to be great for you. Go there. Well, I’m like thank you for not being a douche and keeping me here, you know. So that was cool because he’s like, we have nothing for you, they’re not interested. I’m like awesome, thank you for being honest, I like it.”

Despite some perceived flaws from fans during his time as a full time talent, Triple H has long been considered a huge part in helping develop talent for the WWE. He’s done his best to see every talent maximize their opportunities to shine, even if it’s not with the WWE. ODB is one of those stories of how he helped a talent find their best self outside the company, and it seems like it’s gone well for her. You can watch the discussion here.
