Jon Moxley And KENTA Confrontation Taped A While Ago
One of pro wrestling’s most anticipated matches is finally happening.
After nearly a year since his last defense of the IWGP United States Title, Jon Moxley will finally meet the man owed a shot against him in KENTA on February 26th. Moxley showed up on NJPW Strong Friday night to confront KENTA and the match was made official last night. And if you believe it, this has been planned for some time.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noticed El Phantasmo was part of the segment involving Jon Moxley, and Phantasmo has been out of the United States since last month for New Japan shows across the pond. Realizing that means that Tony Khan may have loosened his restrictions on AEW talent appearing for New Japan in the United States either permanently or for this moment, as NJPW has had this taped for a while and held onto it.
“The one thing is that had to have taped in December because Phantasmo is in Japan right now, he hasn’t left to quarantine. The latest he could have left was December 20th, so he hasn’t left. So, this has been in the can for a while, which is kind of a surprise. “
The long awaited match is something many people have been anticipating for quite some time and now New Japan has finally set a date on this long anticipated match. While it’s unknown if the match has been taped or not, we’ll have to wait until February 26th to find out.
