Toni Storm Was A Last Minute Replacement For The Royal Rumble
WWE makes sure to have backup plans in place these days in case of the COVID-19 pandemic, and WWE seemed to have one ready Sunday night at the Royal Rumble.
Over the weekend, it was revealed Mia Yim, known as Reckoning from Retribution, tested positive for COVID-19. She revealed the news herself on Twitter and it wound up causing her to be pulled from the Royal Rumble women’s match. Now, it seems we know just who replaced her on the card.
Fightful Select has reported Toni Storm was not originally scheduled to be part of the match. She had been at the ThunderDome as an alternate and filled in for Reckoning.
Toni Storm actually wasn’t originally planned for the Rumble match, and ended up serving as an alternate when Yim couldn’t make it.
They had one other alternate planned for the match, but Kacy Catanzaro wasn’t used. While it was a great surprise for the Royal Rumble to have some Toni Time, it wasn’t supposed to be at least for this one night. We at Bodyslam send best wishes to Mia Yim and hope for a speedy recovery.
