Jim Ross Talks About Tony Khan’s Progress In Booking AEW
Despite the involvement of people like The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, and Cody Rhodes when All Elite Wrestling opened their doors, there was a lot of criticism about involving Tony Khan in the beginning. Khan had no wrestling experience and people were concerned this was just some sort of vanity project he didn’t really care about.
While mistakes have been made booking wise in AEW, Khan has shown himself to be a competent booker and has improved from all his mistakes. It’s been a process, but Jim Ross spoke about his growth on his Grilling JR podcast, and he believes that Khan is continuing to improve despite being a “rookie booker.”
“He’s a rookie booker. He’s got a year under his belt, so I think going forward you’re going to see that process continue to evolve in AEW. Everybody should be getting better at their gig and that doesn’t exclude Tony Khan.”
Khan has definitely improved a lot of his mistakes. One of his most maligned decisions involved The Dark Order at the end of 2019, and he has continued to evolve and improve, which has led to the group getting their fortunes turned around. He hasn’t been perfect, but he’s proven that he’s getting better and it’s showing in the company product.
