Love him or hate him, Pat McAfee was a highlight for NXT in 2020.
After putting on a great match with Adam Cole earlier in the year, McAfee returned and wound up becoming a highlight as he became one of the black and gold brand’s best promo guys. Even his performance at TakeOver: War Games was highly spoken of, leading many fans to wonder if he’ll be back with NXT.
Triple H talked about McAfee and whether or not we’ll see him again in NXT during the conference call promoting NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day, and he revealed it’s just a matter of fitting into McAfee’s very busy schedule.
“Pat is just a busy dude. We talked about it. He said ‘give me a minute to breathe and when the Super Bowl is over,’ because he just got married not that long ago. He said ‘if I don’t take a breath after this Super Bowl I might not be married for much longer.’ You know, my words not his.”
“I think he needed to take a breather and I think if there’s something we can engage again — he loves it. That’s one thing I love about Pat. When you have somebody from outside who comes in and loves it, by outsider it’s so hard to consider him like that because he loves what we do. It’s hard not to consider him an insider.”
It was said McAfee also was removed so he wasn’t considered the brand’s top heel or be relied on too much to be so. Whatever the case is, Pat McAfee has won over a lot of people in pro wrestling with his skills and dedication.
