The centerpiece of New Japan Pro Wrestling is Kazuchika Okada. Though he might not be the current IWGP Champion, Okada is the company’s ace, so it’s rare to see him outside the company. However, the current partnership with AEW, Impact Wrestling, and NJPW may see him wrestle outside the company.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that eventually Okada will make his way here as part of the forbidden door opening. While it’s not specified what company we’ll see Okada in, he’s taking part in this NJPW partnership with Impact and AEW.
“Everyone’s in business now and it’s all open and Okada’s coming at some point, somewhere. I don’t know where, but I know he’s coming. It’s not going to be in NXT, and other people are coming.”
Meltze added fans could see Kenny Omega against Okada and Kota Ibushi in this deal. While NJPW has had a successful partnership with Ring of Honor in the past, it now seems NJPW is going to use this relationship with these companies to expand further and it could be interesting to see how everything grows here. The best news to take from this is Okada is arriving in America as part of this partnership, and if this is the case, it might just be the sign of trust Tama Tonga needs to believe the Forbidden Door is open.
