More On Vince McMahon Banning Leg Slaps
WWE recently started a ban on leg slapping to help sell and enhance moves, and this is all from above, especially Vince McMahon.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed this all began with Vince McMahon getting upset at the Gorilla Position on SmackDown. He didn’t reveal when this happened, but mentioned it may have been recent enough for this change to take effect recently to the point Vince laid down the law. He made the choice that it was important enough to have signs about it backstage.
“This is what I was told, but it’s not like I’m gonna get an official [response] anyway. What I was told was at some point on a SmackDown show somebody did a leg slapping deal and Vince got mad because it was so obvious.”
There was no mentioned who performed the leg slap, but it was noticed enough that Vince McMahon saw it and got upset. Now nobody is allowed to do them anymore, and while it might be interesting to see if some talent continue to do so they will have to be careful thanks to the fines now in place.
