Tom Phillips Might Be On His Way Out Of WWE
Tom Phillips was absent last night from WrestleMania 37, and we learned it had to do with a violation of the COVID-19 protocol. This came on the heels of the news breaking Phillips was going to be replaced on Raw starting this Monday with former ESPN personality Adnan Virk. Now it seems Phillips might be on his way out of the company, though it is currently unclear.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about last night’s show and said Michael Cole wasn’t scheduled to be in the booth for the entire event. Phillips was supposed to work the show, but now it seems Phillips might not be back with the WWE after this weekend.
“Michael Cole did the entire show because Tom Phillips, who apparently may not be back, I don’t know what the story is. I was trying to check all day, but people were busy with matches so I didn’t really get an answer. People I talked with had no idea there was going to be a change. Tom Phillips apparently there was a COVID protocol thing tonight and Monday Adnan Virk starts on RAW.”
Phillips has been with the WWE since 2012 and has been part of the Raw announce team since January of last year when he replaced Vic Joseph. While it’s unknown if he’s finishing with the company, this will be a story worth keeping an eye on as it develops.
