News On Mickie James’ Release
The last time we saw Mickie James in the WWE, it was at night two of TakeOver: Stand & Deliver. She wasn’t wrestling, she was working the pre-show, including going to the announce table. It was her first appearance since the Royal Rumble, which was her first wrestling appearance since September of last year. During that period of time, the WWE tried to use Mickie James in a non-wrestling capacity during Legends Night, but Mickie wasn’t ready to go down that route and let fans and management know it.
Fightful Select has reported that James made no secret she wanted to continue wrestling, saying she was “vocal backstage” about continuing on in an in-ring capacity. Unfortunately, the WWE felt otherwise about her future.
Of those wrestlers, we’ve been told that Mickie James had been vocal backstage about her desire to continue wrestling.
There’s no doubt Mickie will have options to continue competing once her 90-day no compete clause comes to an end. While WWE seemed prepared to transition her into other things, James will no doubt have opportunities, possibly even to reunite with her husband Nick Aldis in the NWA.
