WWE May Have Lied To Some Released Superstars About Whether They Were On The Chopping Block
WWE is no stranger to making cuts from the roster. It tends to be a tradition following WrestleMania, but this year’s cuts came one year to the day of the WWE making their massive COVID-19 related cuts. Some talent had an idea that releases would be coming and were lied to when they asked.
Fightful Select reports that the word about releases made its way backstage “a couple of months ago.” According to their report, “Multiple people among the cuts” asked about whether or not they would be released and were told they would be fine, only to find themselves on the chopping block.
Multiple people among the cuts had inquired about whether or not they were on the chopping block and were told they weren’t going to be among them, only to be cut.
A wrestler told them that “it’s just an annual reminder that this is a company, not a family.”
There are more cuts scheduled for today, this time from NXT, but nothing has been heard yet. We are keeping our ears out for information and will report on it if we hear anything at Bodyslam.
