Bray Wyatt’s WWE Release Was Said To Be Another “Budget Cut”
WWE announced earlier today that they had comes to terms on the release of Bray Wyatt.
Bray Wyatt has not been seen on WWE programming since his match at WrestleMania 37 when he lost to Randy Orton in the opening contest of the night.
According to an update from Fightful Select, Bray Wyatt was told that the reason for his WWE release was due to “budget cuts.” It was also said that Wyatt was informed of the news of his release by John Laurinaitis via phone call. Additionally, Laurinaitis was said to have sent out a notification to WWE talents alerting them to the news prior to it breaking online.
The report also stated that the notion that Wyatt’s release was due to a “budget cut” immediately surprised those within WWE, as he was known to be a great merch seller and money maker for the company when he was active.
Additionally, it was said this wasn’t the first time that Bray’s name had been brought up, as he was also brought up during another recent round of releases. Fightful also reported that creative had been told that Bray had become protective of his character after what he saw as “poor creative decisions and ideas thrown his way.”
Fightful also confirmed the Observer‘s report that Bray Wyatt was tentatively slated to make his return in August, and that there were plans already in place.
