The Brisco Brothers have been a staple of ROH for many years and now with the news that the company will be taking a hiatus come January, what is next for the former ROH Tag Team Champions? The Brothers recently secured the GCW Tag Team Championships but will there be any work beyond GCW?
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer spoke about the Briscoe’s chances of finding work in WWE. He gives the brothers more of a fighting chance than one might expect. That being said, a homophobic social media post in 2013 kept them from WWE and AEW in the past, and it’s unknown if people are over it.
“I don’t think WWE would take The Briscoes, perhaps they would at this point. They wouldn’t years ago, because Jay Briscoe once tweeted a homophobic remark, very homophobic remark which wouldn’t be a good thing, but I don’t know if you hold that against him for the rest of his life.”
Meltzer is referring to a homophobic tweet made by Jay Briscoe that many thought made them toxic throughout the mainstream wrestling companies. It sounds like things may have changed now.
We will have to see if the Briscoes are able to find work beyond GCW.
