Former WWE Champion Set To Debut For AEW
Former WWE United States Champion Kalisto is set to make his debut on AEW Dynamite and will be challenging FTR for championship gold.
Current AAA Tag Team Champions FTR announced that they were issuing an open challenge for their relatively-newly won championship. The Top Guys unseated the Lucha Brothers for the title on the 16th of October edition of AEW Dynamite. FTR initially posed as Andrade El Idolo’s handpicked masked team to face Penta El Zero M and Rey Fenix but when the team of “Las Super Ranas” emerged it was obvious that Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood were trying to pull a fast one.
Despite being unmasked and their identities left in no doubt, the former NXT, Raw, SmackDown, and AEW Tag Team Champions managed to add more gold to their collection as they defeated the Lucha Brothers.
Now their open challenge has been answered according to AEW President Tony Khan in an appearance on Wrestling Observer Live According to Khan, The tag team will be putting their belts on the line against Mexican competitor Aerostar and the former WWE United States Champion Kalisto.
This match will mark Kalisto’s first return to the ring since his last bout with WWE which was the André The Giant Memorial Battle Royale on the 1st of April 2021 edition of SmackDown. Kalisto was then subsequently released from his WWE contract just one week after that match as part of ongoing cost-cutting in the company.
