Eddie Kingston Calls Upcoming Match With CM Punk “The Most Personal Match” Of His Career

Eddie Kingston came into AEW unknown to many wrestling fans, but once he got on the mic and cut his first promo towards Cody Rhodes he made it known he was here to stay.

Eddie Kingston is by far one of the most unique personalities in all of wrestling. His rugged hardcore urban mannerisms set him apart from others due to the fact that the promos and way he talks are obviously from the heart. Whether cutting a promo on an opponent or a bag of sour patch kids he always finds a way to draw you in with his words.

Kingston has most recently been called out by CM Punk and in an interview, DAZN Kingston went on to say that his match with Punk at Full Gear is the most personal of his entire career.

“It’s 15 years in the making. I wouldn’t say it’s the biggest match of my career but it’s definitely the most personal match. Professionally, it was me and [Jon] Moxley last year because I truly believe in my heart that the AEW World title is the biggest prize in all of America. That was the biggest match for me, but this weekend, personally, it’s me and Punk.” 

Eddie Kingston then went on to explain how even though this is probably the biggest match of his career, that he will be just enjoying the gravity of the moment.

“When people tell you they always believed something was going to happen, I think they’re lying. I’ve had doubts my whole career. I’ve had doubts my whole life. I did not expect this, and I have to pinch myself every once in a while. I still don’t think it’s real. I’m just trying to live in the moment. This can all be taken away at any moment just like 2020 has shown us.” 

We will have to see what will happen this Saturday at Full Gear when Eddie Kingston and CM Punk go head to head.
