The 2nd Adesanya/Whittaker Bout Has Been Scheduled for February
The current UFC Middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya, last faced off with the former champion Whittaker back on October 5, 2019. It seems that the anticipated rematch will now take place at UFC 271 in February.
Damon Martin from MMA Fighting reported that the UFC has been targeting February 12 as the date that will host the second meeting. Both Adesanya and Whittaker have both verbally agreed, but nothing has been set to paper yet.
The champion is currently 3-1 since facing Whittaker. Back at UFC 243, when they first faced each other, ‘The Stylebender’ knocked out Whittaker in the second round in order to become the undisputed middleweight champion. In his most recent defense, he defeated Marvin Vettori at UFC 263 by unanimous decision.
Whittaker has also seen recent success in his last fights. He has won his last three fights with the last being a unanimous decision win over Kelvin Gastelum back at UFC Vegas 24.
