Welterweight stalwart Gunnar Nelson has inked a new UFC deal with a fight announcement imminent, according to Nelson’s tweet on Monday.
Gunnar is currently on a two-fight skid in the UFC, losing back to back decisions to Gilbert Burns and Leon Edwards in 2019 before an injury grappling Hafthor Bjornsson led to the Icelandic fighters long stint out of the octagon. Nelson told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour back in December that the injury took place while he rolled with the strongman, “feeling a pop” at one point as the strongman put his weight on him, re-aggravating an existing injury from the Burns fight.
